About Us

The Schola Cantorum is a group of people who are learning to sing Gregorian chant. We aim to share the good news of Jesus Christ through the treasure of sacred music, evangelizing through beauty, under the patronage of Saint Gabriel the Archangel.

Our Schola was formed in February, 2020, in hopes of restoring the musical tradition of the Catholic Church, “a treasure of inestimable value,” as the Second Vatican Council declared (Sacrosanctum concilium, 112). Starting in Advent, 2020, we were given charge of the music of the First Friday Mass, into which we have gradually introduced the Latin Kyrie, Sanctus, and Agnus Dei of Mass XVIII, and the proper Entrance and Communion Chants.

The Schola sings at 6:30 p.m. on the first Friday of most months at St. Peter Church in Huber Heights, Ohio. Occasionally the mass has been at another location within the St. Gabriel the Archangel Family of Parishes in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Check the bulletins for any deviations from the usual schedule.
