About Gregory D. Weber

I was born in Evansville, Indiana, in 1951.

I earned a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Evansville (1973), then a Ph.D. in Philosophy (1980) and M.B.A. in Quantitative Business Analysis (1981) from Indiana University.

I worked for the next nine years in industry. At Schreiber Foods, Inc., in Green Bay, Wisconsin, I developed computer-based financial planning models. Moving to St. Paul, Minnesota, as a consultant for the 3M Company, I developed computer simulation models to assist with planning for integrated manufacturing and electronic document systems.

I then returned to academia. After teaching computer science for a year at Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama, I earned an M.S. in Computer Science and Engineering from The University of Michigan, then joined the faculty of Indiana University East as Assistant Professor of Computer Science. From 1992 I taught numerous courses through multiple curriculum and degree changes, until retiring as Associate Professor Emeritus of Computer Science and Informatics in 2017.

In 2020 I founded the Schola Cantorum of St. Gabriel, a choir specializing in Gregorian chant, seeking to restore the lost musical treasure of the Church, “a treasure of inestimable value,” as the Second Vatican Council declared (Sacrosanctum concilium, 112). I direct the choir and play organ at First Friday masses at St. Peter Church in Huber Heights, Ohio.

I began operating this web site and providing my own personal services (email, calendar, contacts) at gdweber.org in December, 2024.
